Making Simple Dungeon Tiles

Making Simple Dungeon Tiles

Lets make some modular dungeon tiles!

You will need:

  • Foam Board

  • Scalpel

  • Grey paint

  • A pencil and a Marker

  • Ruler

  • Sandpaper

I found some foam board in HobbyCraft for £10 for 4 A1 sheets and I thought they would make excellent crafting materials. As I'll be running The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan soon I thought I'd make the whole dungeon for my crew.

Mark out the outline of the rom in pencil, using 1 inch to represent 5 feet.

Then draw in 1 inch square grid and make sure it is to scale with the miniatures you are using.

Cut out the tile with a scalpel and ruler.

If you are building a specific dungeon make sure to label the back for quick reference.

Outline the grid in a maker. Then clean the edges with sandpaper.

Decorate as you wish. I used a grey spray paint and then used a fineliner to draw some cracks on the slabs.

I'm going to be playing around with this concept when I get a little more time. After The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan is all built I'll look to make this into a modular design that can be reused.

Happy Crafting!
