Dungeon Crate

Dungeon Crate

I took the plunge and decided to check out one of those monthly subscription boxes after being in two minds about it. As I'm in the UK I'm somewhat limited in choices and I found Dungeon Crate because they follow me on Instagram.

For February 2018 the theme was Bards and I got a the following:

There's a d12, a couple of badges, a mini stein, a Reaper Mini, a short adventure with digital content, a charmed token and 5 Bardic Inspiration tokens.

I was honestly feeling a little underwhelmed, I had spent £42 ($57) on this and I was searching for the value in what I had purchased. I made a Pros and Cons list to make my mind up on the service.

What I liked:

  1. The packaging is great and the box looks really cool.

  2. The adventure and digital downloads for it are very professional.

  3. I actually wanted that mini.

  4. The Bard tokens are incredibly useful and I was looking into making some anyway!

What I disliked:

  1. While fun, I have no use for the stein

  2. From the size of the box I was expecting more things or a larger item

  3. The Game Science d12 rolls poorly... (I know that's not really a thing but shush)

I found the mini online for about £10 including postage so I was paying £32 for everything else including shipping from America. Once I had done this I felt a lot better about my purchase but still on the fence. The value is pretty good and is worth a try if you live in the United States as you won't have to deal with postage and import charges. As my subscription has auto renewed I'll give it another go for March and I'm not too upset by that.

If you'd like to give it a go then head to Dungeon Crate and sign up. Follow them on instagram, Twitter and Facebook if you are so inclined.

May you roll well!
