Agrellan Earth Bases

Today we'll be using some Citadel texture paints to make bases for miniatures. Agrellan Earth is an interesting texture paint as it is a liquid that looks like a regular paint, however, when it dries it cracks to give a salt flat like look. For today's make you will need: 

Agrellan Earth can be fairly unpredictable but what should happen is that the texture will dry to reveal the base underneath. First undercoat the base and then paint the top to the colour you want to be revealed.

Next up build up a layer of Agrellan Earth leaving thick splodges on the base. Give this at least thirty minutes to dry out.

Once dry use a wash to add further depth.

Finally, dry brush with a highlight colour.

Play around with it and see what works for you. Here are some of the ways I've tried and the paints that I used:

Lava

  1. Bottom layer of Evil Sunz Scarlet

  2. Apply Agrellan Earth

  3. Gently paint over with Abaddon Black

  4. Drybrush with Dawnstone

  5. Drybrush with Ryza Rust on the cracked area

 

              Snow

  1. Undercoat in Corax White

  2. Apply Agrellan Earth

  3. Paint over with Corax White

  4. Wash with Drakenhof Nightshade

  5. Drybrush with Praxi White

 

 

Dirty Ground
