Agrellan Earth Bases
Today we'll be using some Citadel texture paints to make bases for miniatures. Agrellan Earth is an interesting texture paint as it is a liquid that looks like a regular paint, however, when it dries it cracks to give a salt flat like look. For today's make you will need:
Miniature Bases
Citadel paints
Brushes
Agrellan Earth can be fairly unpredictable but what should happen is that the texture will dry to reveal the base underneath. First undercoat the base and then paint the top to the colour you want to be revealed.
Next up build up a layer of Agrellan Earth leaving thick splodges on the base. Give this at least thirty minutes to dry out.
Once dry use a wash to add further depth.
Finally, dry brush with a highlight colour.
Play around with it and see what works for you. Here are some of the ways I've tried and the paints that I used:
Lava
Bottom layer of Evil Sunz Scarlet
Apply Agrellan Earth
Gently paint over with Abaddon Black
Drybrush with Dawnstone
Drybrush with Ryza Rust on the cracked area
Snow
Undercoat in Corax White
Apply Agrellan Earth
Paint over with Corax White
Wash with Drakenhof Nightshade
Drybrush with Praxi White
Dirty Ground
Undercoat Zandri Dust
Apply Agrellan Earth
Wash with Agrax Earthshade
Drybrush with Terminus Stone
